Video, or just words.
On the homepage, choose Video or Text. Text chat does not ask for your camera or microphone. Random chat in either mode is free; no card is needed to start.
- 02 · SET YOUR COMFORT ZONE
A region is a choice, not an address.
Search across the U.S. or choose Northeast, Midwest, South, or West for free. Your own location can stay private. State and gender filters require Spark Plus. All locations are self-reported—not GPS-verified.
- 03 · YOU DECIDE WHEN
Confirm you’re an adult. Then start.
Read the rules, confirm you are 18 or older, and press Start. Video mode requests camera and microphone permission. Text mode starts without them. Your camera preview stays local while you wait for a match.
- 04 · MEET SOMEONE AVAILABLE
A small community needs a little patience.
Two compatible people must be online and looking at the same time. Spark is an early beta, so a match is not guaranteed. You can end the search and edit your preferences; they are never silently widened. A shared homepage link is not a private meeting room.
- 05 · KEEP IT MUTUAL
Say hello. Leave freely. Save a connection.
Use Next to look for another person, End to stop, or Report / block if needed. Add friend sends a request; the other person must accept. Saving mutual friends is free. An account helps you return to them from another device.
Know the limits, too.
Spark Plus costs $1.99 per month, renewing until canceled, for state and gender filters, sending private messages, and starting friend video calls. Reading received messages and answering friend calls are free. Both people need the site open for calls; messages are kept for up to seven days.
Nudity and sexual content are prohibited. Reports enter an operator queue; there is no live human monitoring or automatic video screening. Spark does not record calls, but another person may capture their screen.
