Understand Northeast, Midwest, South, and West matching, optional profile location, state filters, and what happens when no one matches.
Your search and your location are separate
Spark Cam is designed for adults in the United States. You can look for conversations across the U.S. or narrow your search to the Northeast, Midwest, South, or West. U.S. and regional matching are free.
You do not have to disclose your own state to choose a search region. Your profile can keep location private, share only a region, or include an optional state. The site does not request your street address or GPS location. All location choices are self-reported, so a filter does not verify where someone actually lives.
Specific state, My state, or Nearby states
A specific-state search lets you choose where you want to meet people without entering your own location. My state uses the state you have chosen for your profile. Nearby states uses that state and the neighboring states supported by the matcher; it is not a mileage-radius search.
State and gender filters are included in the proposed Spark Plus membership at $1.99 per month. Paid subscriptions are not activated in the current beta, and available features are free to try. Entering your own region or state is always optional and free.
Why a narrow search can take longer
Two people must be online, available, and compatible with each other’s choices. A smaller region or state gives the matcher fewer possible people. If no match is available, you can wait or broaden your own preferences. Spark Cam does not silently widen your filters.
The four regional counters show recent activity from profiles that have supplied a region or state. Some counted people may already be in conversations. Private locations are excluded. The counters are not a promise of a match, and the clocks show an example city because a region can span more than one time zone.
Keep your privacy in mind
Your selected state is not displayed to your chat partner. However, matching through a narrow geographic filter can suggest your general location. Share only what you are comfortable sharing, and avoid showing addresses or identifying documents on camera.
