Video chat without an app: phone to computer
How to open Spark Cam on iPhone, Android, or a computer, allow your camera and microphone, and start a browser video chat.
One link, the same community
Spark Cam Chat runs in a web browser. Someone can open the same website on an iPhone, Android phone, tablet, or computer without downloading a Spark Cam app. Sending the link in a text message—including through Google Voice—does not make the call a Google Voice call. The conversation happens on the website using an internet connection.
Use an up-to-date browser with working camera and microphone support. Older devices and some networks may not support a successful video connection; a working homepage alone does not confirm that a call will connect.
Start a random video conversation
Open Spark Cam, select Video, and choose your matching preferences. Confirm that you are 18 or older and agree to the rules, then select Start video chat. Your browser asks for camera and microphone access if permission has not already been granted.
After permission is granted, you can see your own preview while the site looks for another available person with compatible preferences. Both people must be on the site and looking for a match. A shared homepage link does not reserve a private room or guarantee that two particular people will meet.
If the camera does not open
Check the browser’s camera and microphone permissions and close other applications that may be using the camera. If you opened the link inside a messaging or social app, try opening it in your regular browser. If a call still fails, try a different supported browser or network, or choose Text to chat without a camera.
End the chat whenever you want. To return more easily, use the site’s home-screen instructions to save an icon on your phone. This is a website shortcut, not an App Store download, and it still needs an internet connection.
